Katrin Eismann is an internationally respected lecturer
and teacher on the subject of imaging, restoration, retouching, and
the impact of emerging technologies upon professional photographers,
artists, and educators. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
in Photographic Illustration with a concentration in electronic still
imaging from the Rochester Institute of Technology and recently completed
her Masters of Fine Arts degree in design at the School of Visual Arts
in New York City.

In 1998, Katrin co-authored; Web Design Studio Secrets and
Adobe Photoshop Studio Secrets, 2nd edition for IDG Books;
chaired two Thunder Lizard Productions Focus on Photoshop conferences;
completed a four country tour of Scandinavia for the Eastman Kodak
Company, and was a guest artist at the La Pietra Hawaii School for
Girls.

In 1999, she co-authored Real World Digital Photography for
Peachpit Press and created a photographic installation to accompany
her being the 1999 Guerin Visiting Scholar at the Marlborough School.

In 2000, Katrin spoke at numerous professional conferences including
the HOW Conference, PMA/DIMA, PhotoPlus Expo, and chaired the Thunder
Lizard Productions Focus on Photoshop Conference.

In 2001 Katrin released Photoshop Restoration and Retouching
with New Riders Publishing.

In 2002 she completed her MFA degree, traveled to Finland and Peru
as a consultant to give restoration and retouching workshops, and
had a one-person exhibit at Keene State College in New Hampshire.
- In
2003 , Katrin updated her award-winning book Photoshop Restoration
and Retouching and is an active faculty member at the School
of Visual Arts in the undergraduate Computer Art department. She completed
the update of Real
World Digital Photography, 2nd edition together with Sean
Duggan and Tim Grey. Lectured in Mexico City, together with her husband
John McIntosh on The Future of Photography, taught numerous
workshops throughout the US, and managed to play a lot of golf on
a summer binge - in four weeks she and John played 40 rounds...often
walking 36-54 holes per day.
- In 2004, Katrin released a new book Photoshop Masking & Compositing presented in Hamburg, Germany, participated at Photoshop World, and began teaching in the Photography and Related Media Graduate Program at School of Visual Arts in NYC.
- In 2005, Katrin lectured in Moscow, Russia; was inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame; and completed the third update of Photoshop Restoration and Retouching.
- Katrin
was also an instrumental member of the Photoshop CS alpha and beta
team and she is one of a very few people who are not Adobe employees
thanked on the official splash
screen of Photoshop CS.

Katrin works on an Apple PowerBook G4/1.67 Gh with 2048 Mb RAM and an Apple G5 Dual Processor Power Mac with 4096 Mb of RAM. Her two favorite computer peripherals are an Imacon Precision 3 Scanner and a Canon 20d digital camera...which she carries with her wherever she goes. Katrin is married to a boytoy (johnniemac) - he wants it - she uses it - it all works out in the end.
